To celebrate the Nobel Prize for Medicine awarded to cancer researcher Dr. William Kaelin, Jr. for his work on VHL, we did a Mad Scientist theme. This was the second Halloween dance held in Whitby/Oshawa, Ontario area and proved to be a great time had by all. Games included “What’s your Element?” including a periodic table, “Toonies for Tumours’ which involved winning a bottle of Rye and Vodka, and of course, a costume contest............ $7500 was raised at the dance which was Chaired by Board Member Patty Milburn and included Maryann Gibbons, Liz Hutchinson, Michelle Reinhardt, Cathy LaPlaunt Parrott, Terri Milburn-Rodrigues, Melanie Braaten and our Communications Committee Lauren Fowler, Julia Parrott and Ehvan Parrott.
In addition to the events mentioned below Board Member Maryann Gibbons has spearheaded some innovative fundraising activities like our On-Line Auctions and Bottle Drives.
